Finding Joy: A Gentle Berner Ready to Learn What Love Feels Like
📍 New Jersey | 🎂 4 years old | ⚖️ 89 lbs
Meet Joy — a 4-year-old, 89-pound Bernese Mountain Dog rescued from an Amish breeder, who’s just beginning to discover the beauty of life in a real home. She’s sweet, shy, and a little bit silly, and every day she takes brave little steps toward trust and happiness.
Joy has been doing wonderfully in her foster home in Hightstown, NJ, especially with the help of her two Bernese foster sisters. She’s started following their lead — learning how to play, enjoy the outdoors, and even discovering that coming inside can feel safe. She’s still nervous, but when treats come out, her playful side begins to shine.
Joy would thrive in a calm, patient home where someone understands that healing takes time. A confident dog companion could help continue to guide her and show her the world isn’t so scary. She doesn’t need loud adventures or a busy home — just someone who will meet her where she is, celebrate each small milestone, and offer the love she’s never known.
In return, Joy will blossom into the most devoted, gentle-hearted companion — the kind of dog who will always be grateful for her second chance.
