Meet Our Adoptable Dogs

  • Cori - 1 Year, 11 Months

    Cori - 1 Year, 11 Months

Hello all potential adopters.  My name is Coriander and I’m 5 years old and located in Carmel, IN.  Like the herb coriander, I can help promote heart health.  I can help you become more active (I like walks) and help ease stress (I’ll let you love on me or pet me all you want.)

I’m spayed, up to date on my shots and I’m ready to find my forever home!  My foster says that I’m a very sweet girl and that I’m making great strides in trusting people.  I LOVE my dog siblings!  I have so much fun being able to run around with them.  We like to stare at the house squirrels (my foster mom calls them cats.)  We just watch them as they walk on their merry little way.  I am most comfortable when I’m with my dog siblings.  I would like to share a house with another dog!

My foster mom has never seen me with children but thinks that I’d be just fine with them if they are old enough to be gentle and understand that I come from a difficult past.  I would love a family that will show me love and patience as I learn to trust humans.  If you would like to welcome me to your family, please fill out an application below so that we can meet.  Can’t wait!

If interested, please complete an adoption application here.

Out of state apps are welcome but adopters must be prepared to drive to meet Cori and take her home.

  • Annabelle and Brandy - 8 Years Old

Annabelle and Brandy - 8 Years Old

Annabelle and Brandy are a bonded pair of 8 year old sisters.

Hello everyone! Annabelle and Brandy are the newest additions to the National Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue Network. This bonded pair is looking for a new home, so I have asked them some questions on what they are looking for in a new family. I hope you enjoy the interview!

Question: Hello Annabelle and Brandy, I’m so glad you could be here with us as we try to find a new home for you both! I’m going to ask you some questions and you just answer as honestly as you can. Are you ready to get started?

Answer: Yes!! We are ready to get started!!

Q: Where are you located currently?

Annabelle: We are located just south of Chicago, IL.

Q: Okay- let’s get this tough question out of the way. Can you tell everyone what life is like since leaving the puppy mill?

Brandy: Well, since leaving the puppy mill, sometimes we do have night terrors. But our foster mom is so great. She will get up and tell us that we are okay, we are safe now and will pet us until we start to relax again. Once she does that, we sleep like babies the rest of the night.

Q: I hear that you have a nickname, what is it?

Brandy: We are known as “The Fluffies.” We are 8 years old and we would love to spend our senior years together in a home where we can get all the love!

Q: So, do you do everything together?

Annabelle: Yes, of course! We love to eat, and we do well on car rides. We both hate the loud noise from that mower machine, as soon as it gets turned off, our tails will wag in sync.

Brandy: We also do well on a leash and on walks. We love running around in the fenced yard together and playing with toys. We’ve done well with kids, teenagers, and babies. As long as we have each other, we are ready to take on the world.

Okay everyone, I hope you enjoyed getting to know this bonded pair. If you are interested in adopting them or getting more information, please put in an application. Let’s find them an amazing new home!

  • Everly - 2 Years, 8 Months

    Everly - 2 Years, 8 Months

Hey everybody! My name is Everly and I’m two years old. I’m shy, sweet and petite (hey that rhymed!) I’m in the market for a forever home so I wanted to let you know what I’m searching for. I’m still waiting to be spayed, but I wanted to put some feelers out there to see if I can generate any interest. I’m currently located in Mechanicsburg, PA.

My foster family says that I’m gentle and would make an ideal family member in a home that is relaxed and low energy. I’m a little skittish of sudden movements, loud noises and a lot of activity. My foster family gave me this big cushion and I love to lay on it. They tell me that they are proud of me all the time because I’ve not had an accident in the house. I know how to walk on a leash, but I would like if my new family would train me on how to use it. I love to follow you wherever you take me. I prefer to be by your side and just hanging out. I haven’t gotten on any furniture, and I’ve been the perfect house guest. Almost…. I do like to sing. (Ah-hooooooo- werewolves of London)

Outside, I get the zoomies but they don’t last too long. I have short little bursts of energy. I often lay with my paws crossed and look like I’m judging you. (If you point the fan in my direction, I’ll stop judging and enjoy the breeze.) I’m very pretty and I like to give you kisses. I will also nuzzle your hand for attention. Please put in an application for me, I’m patiently waiting to nuzzle you.

  • Holly - 3 Years, 11 Months

    Holly - 3 Years, 11 Months

    Holly

Hey Everyone!  My name is Holly and I’m currently located in (city, state) and looking for my forever home.  My foster says that I’m a hard dog to give up.  Here is what she says about me:

Holly is friendly with everyone that comes into the house.  She will try to beat you to the couch so that she can sit with you.  She finds a spot next to me and my two dogs like she’s been with our family this whole time.  We are working on potty training currently.  When she’s kept on a schedule, she does just fine!  We put her in the crate at night and she never whines or barks.  She will lift her paw and gently touch your arm or hide her head against you when she wants attention.  She has a natural curiosity about everything!  She has discovered some treats that she loves but she will steal cheese every chance she gets.  You won’t find a better cuddler.  She learned very quickly how to use the doggie door.  Holly is wonderful dog and the family that gets her will be extremely lucky.

“A rescue dog doesn’t ask for a lot, just a little space in your heart and a second chance to be loved like they deserve.”  If you would like to give Holly the love that she deserves, please fill out an application for her!

If interested, please complete an adoption application here.

Out of state apps are welcome but adopters must be prepared to drive to meet Holly and take them home.

  • Calypso - 2 Years Old

    Calypso - 2 Years Old

Hey everyone! My name is Calypso, or Cali for short. I’m two years old and currently located an hour north of Louisville, KY. I’m looking for a forever home and would love to introduce myself.

My foster says that I’m a hoot. She thinks it’s funny that I love car rides so much that if you open the door, I will dart out and get in the car, even if you aren’t going anywhere! I guess I am a hoot!

I love playing with other dogs. I have made myself right at home since going to my foster’s home. They have comfortable furniture! If you are on the couch, so am I. If you are on your bed, so am I. I don’t understand personal space, I’m cute like that.

I do okay on a leash, but I would need some extra training from a nice family that has the patience to teach me. I’ve been on a few walks but have no idea what I’m doing. My foster wants me to let you know that I respond better when the leash is attached to my collar, if it’s attached to a harness I do pull.

My foster family says that it wouldn’t hurt me to lose a little weight. With that being said, I guess I should tell you that I’m a little out of shape (round is a shape, right?). Not too much though, so don't start throwing away all those treats.

I would do well with younger siblings that will help me exercise and stay fit. Sometimes I cannot keep up with my foster’s younger dog, but I'm ready to try. I’m potty trained and do not do well in a crate. My foster has a cat that I show a little interest in, but I haven’t chased her.

I’ve been out for socializing at a few stores. I’m not afraid to go in the stores, but I do need a little reassurance. I will greet others as soon as I feel comfortable.

I've heard it said, "If the kindest souls were rewarded with the longest lives, dogs would outlive us all." (Ricky Gervais). I like that!

Please fill out an application for me, I’m looking forward to going on car rides together!

If interested, please complete an adoption application here.

  • Dahlia - 2 Years, 1 Month

    Dahlia - 2 Years, 1 Month

Dahlia is a gorgeous 2-year-old momma who just broke free from the puppy mill life a little less than two weeks ago. She is up to date on vaccines and currently waiting to be spayed. She is residing just outside of St. Louis, MO.

Dahlia is looking for a loving and patient home that will shower her with love and understanding as she transitions to this new way of life. She is gaining exposure to this new world and she approaches these new experiences with caution and curiosity.

Her foster home has two small dogs and two big kids. Dahlia is being cautious and keeps her distance until she knows she's safe. She is very watchful from the corner of the room; you can tell that she so desperately wants to be loved on. Each day, she inches closer and closer to everyone. She is great on a leash and most comfortable on leisurely walks through the neighborhood. She excitedly greets the other dogs that she encounters. She’d thrive in a fenced in yard where she could run/play with another big dog to show her how to be a beloved pet. Dahlia understands doing her business outside, it would be best to keep her on a schedule so she can continue being amazing.

Although she’s not ready to snuggle up just yet, Dahlia is assured by the presence of her foster mom and prefers to be wherever she is. Her happy place is wherever you are. She’d be best suited to a home where her new family can spend a good amount of time with her to help her blossom. She could use to gain a few pounds, she currently weighs 67lbs, so her new family will get to spoil her with treats!

Dahlia is currently in heat so she will need a home that is foster to adopt while she waits out her 6 weeks before spay. That will also give her time to settle into her new home and family and learn just how awesome it is to be loved.

Please submit an application for Dahlia if you are interested in learning more about her. She does want me to tell you “You’ll never walk alone because I’ll always be with you. Love, Dahlia.”

If interested, please complete an adoption application here.

  • Cassia - 6 Years, 6 Months

    Cassia - 6 Years, 6 Months

Hey there everybody, my name is Cassia (my foster family calls me Cassie) and I’m six years old. Currently I live with my amazing fosters in Grafton, WV. I’m looking for a forever home that is patient and kind. When I first meet you, I’m a little shy but if you talk to me, I’ll start wiggling my butt and wagging my tail.

I’m a great house guest and I’m very quiet and love to nap. I take great care in finding safe spots for napping. My foster mom takes me on walks and says I walk nice on a leash. Sometimes I get scared and won’t move, she calls me “Sherman tank” whatever that is. When I go outside, I like to run for a little bit but then I come inside and look for my next nap spot.

According to height, I’m one of the smallest dogs in the house, but in terms of weight, I can hold my own at 70 lbs. I am patient with children as long as they are gentle. I don’t mind going for rides, but climbing in the car can be difficult for me. I may look at you with my big puppy eyes and ask for help, subliminally. I am spayed and up to date on all my vaccines. I even have a beautiful white smile thanks to some much needed dental work. If I sound like a catch, please submit an application for me, I’d love to meet you and get a case of the butt wiggles.
