Meet Miss Jewel — a 115-pound velcro dog, social butterfly, and self-appointed supervisor of everything you do. She will sit right next to you and have a full conversation about her day. She will bop her squeaky banana toy with her nose for your entertainment. She will steal a taco if given the opportunity and she will feel absolutely no remorse. She is, in every possible way, a whole personality — and she is looking for a home that is ready for all of it.
Jewel came into rescue after her beloved original owner passed away. She is completely house-trained with full run of the home and zero indoor incidents — the taco situation notwithstanding. She is unbothered by thunderstorms and vacuums, settles easily when her people leave for the day, and transforms into a devoted velcro companion the moment you walk back through the door. She loves car rides with the help of a step stool and her back-leg harness, and she makes an excellent co-pilot.
She is a smart, food-motivated girl who is actively working on her leash manners and making real progress every day. She gets very excited about the world — new people, new smells, new adventures — and sometimes needs a quick reset to remember how to channel that enthusiasm. She is also reactive to other dogs, so her new home will need to be committed to continuing her training with patience and experienced hands.
A note on her health: Jewel has some ongoing skin sensitivities being managed with Cytopoint injections, and she is on a specialized hydrolyzed diet. She had a mass removed that was fully cleared. She is a girl who needs a family ready to stay on top of her care — and she is absolutely worth it.
