Skye's foster family calls her a unicorn — and once you hear about her, you'll understand why. She doesn't bark. She doesn't tug on the leash. She doesn't destroy things when left alone. She simply waits by the door, patient and quiet, until her person comes home. Then she gives them her whole heart. Every single day.
She is a velcro dog in the very best sense — low maintenance, deeply gentle, and completely devoted to whoever she decides is her person. She loves morning hugs, rolling in the grass to scratch her back, and a comfortable daily routine of walks and yard time. She doesn't need a lot of exercise. She doesn't need a lot of fuss. She just needs to be near you, and she is perfectly, completely happy.
Skye also happens to have half a tail — a little detail that is part of her story and, honestly, part of her charm. It has never slowed her down, never changed who she is, and it certainly hasn't made her any less worthy of a wonderful home. If anything, it makes finding the right person even more important — because Skye deserves someone whose first instinct is to see her, not her tail.
She can be cautious around sudden noises and movements and prefers that people don't approach her near her head — a gentle, calm introduction on her terms goes a long way. She warms up to new people quietly and in her own time, and once she trusts you she is in it for keeps. She has shown resource guarding with other animals, so she needs to be the one and only pet in her home — no dogs, no cats. That's not a limitation. That's just more love for you.
Skye would do best in a home that offers:

🐾 Only pet household — no other dogs or cats, this is important

🧘 Calm, patient adults who move gently and let her set the pace
🏠 Someone home often — retired, remote, or simply eager for a constant companion
📋 A consistent daily routine — walks, yard time, and her people nearby
🚫 No kennel — she does much better with free roam
