Peaches: From Puppy Mill to Playful Snow-Lover

Meet Peaches — a 1.5-year-old “pocket-sized” Bernese Mountain Dog weighing in at just 67 pounds and currently being fostered in Northfield, Ohio.

Peaches came to us after being surrendered by an Amish breeder when she was no longer useful for breeding. In just two short weeks, this brave girl has made incredible progress and is now ready to continue her journey in a loving, patient forever home.

At first, Peaches was understandably timid and unsure of her new surroundings. But day by day, she’s opening up — and her sweet, goofy personality is starting to shine. She’s affectionate, gentle, and has recently started seeking out pets, chewing on toys, and even enjoying belly rubs. Her favorite place? Lying near her people, soaking up quiet comfort.

But don’t let her mellow side fool you — outside, Peaches turns into a playful ball of energy! She loves snow, chase games with her foster siblings, and those signature Berner zoomies. She will absolutely need a home in a snowy statewhere she can indulge in her frosty obsession ❄️.

Peaches is living with another Bernese, two small dogs, and young children, and she’s been wonderful with them all. She would do best in a home with another confident dog to help her continue learning how to “dog” and a fenced yard to safely run and play.

She’s about 90% house-trained, does well when left alone in a dog-safe area, and is scheduled to be spayed this week. After her recovery, she’ll be ready to find her happily ever after.
