Adopt: Kona
Kona’s Second Chance: From Mill Dog to Beloved Companion
Kona — a gentle, 6-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog with a heart full of love and a story of resilience.
Recently rescued from an Amish puppy mill, Kona is now ready to embrace the life she’s always deserved — one filled with cuddles, comfort, and companionship. Weighing in at 72 pounds, she’s a sweet soul who adores being close to her people and would happily spend her days lounging beside you or going on leisurely strolls.
Kona walks beautifully on a leash, enjoys outdoor time, and will thrive in a home with a fenced yard to safely explore. She loves other dogs and would benefit greatly from having a furry sibling or two. While she’s crate trained, she has also been doing well with free roam in the home. She prefers a family that isn’t away for long hours — 6–7 hours alone has been fine, but more than that could be a bit much for her gentle nature.
Due to her high prey drive, Kona will need a home without cats or other small animals.
Kona is spayed and fully vaccinated, and while she’s doing great physically, she does have a medical condition called protein-losing nephropathy (PLN). The good news? Her recent kidney ultrasound was clear, and she currently shows no physical symptoms. With a daily ACE inhibitor and routine vet check-ups, she can continue living a happy, healthy life.
Kona’s eyes say it all — this girl just wants to be loved. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly, and calm companion who will be forever grateful for her second chance, Kona might just be the one.
