Meet Ella – A Gentle Soul Looking for Her Safe Place ❤️
Ella is a beautiful 5½-year-old, 86-pound Bernese Mountain Dog with the sweetest heart you could ever imagine. After spending her life as a mama mill dog, she’s finally getting the chance to learn what it means to simply be loved.
Ella is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and loyal. Once she trusts you, all she wants is to be close—whether she’s leaning in for hugs, cuddling on the couch, or acting as your own personal fluffy blanket. She doesn’t ask for much; she just wants to be near her person.
Because of her past, Ella is a very fearful girl. Loud noises such as thunderstorms, fireworks, and even unexpected household sounds can be scary for her. New situations take time, and she needs a family that understands healing doesn’t happen overnight. Patience, kindness, and allowing Ella to move at her own pace will help her continue to blossom.
She is house-trained and crate-trained, although the crate isn’t her favorite place. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and has been great with chickens. Cats are unknown. Young children are frightening for her, so she’d do best in a quiet home with adults or older, calm children who understand how to respect her space.
Ella isn’t interested in toys just yet, and walks are still overwhelming for her. At the veterinary clinic, fear causes her to “pancake” to the floor, so she needs gentle encouragement and patience during visits. She isn’t aggressive—she simply becomes overwhelmed and needs people to move slowly and let her know she’s safe.
Her personality is still emerging, and it’s been such a joy to watch. Every day brings another small victory, another little glimpse of the happy dog she’s becoming. The family who gives Ella the time she deserves will be rewarded with an incredibly devoted companion whose love runs deep.
Ella would thrive in a home where she isn’t left alone for long periods and where someone is willing to let her learn, trust, and grow at her own pace.
