Adopted: Spirit
A Sweet Soul Ready to Try Again 🐾
📍 Clarksville, TN | 🎂 7 years, 4 months | ⚖️ 60 lbs
Spirit has already done something incredibly hard once — she learned to trust. She arrived in her first foster home absolutely terrified of the world, and over six patient, gentle months she blossomed into a dog who sought out cuddles, followed her person room to room, and finally felt safe. Through no fault of her own, she is starting that journey again. And she deserves someone who will see that not as a setback, but as a privilege.
She is a quiet, gentle, deeply sweet girl who doesn't ask for much. She wants to be in the same room as her people and her dog companions, close enough to feel safe without having to be the center of attention. She won't usually come to you — but she won't go far either. She simply wants to exist in the warmth of a loving home and know, slowly and surely, that she is safe for good this time.
Spirit is heartworm-free after completing her treatment and is doing beautifully. She will need a spay recheck this November before she can be spayed, so she must go to a home with only altered dogs in the meantime. Because of her history and her need for stability, she needs to stay within five hours of the Nashville area — long distance travel and major disruptions are hard on this fragile girl.
She needs a committed adopter who understands that six months is the real timeline for Spirit to settle and come out of her shell — and who is okay with that. Someone who, if they travel, will have a trusted person come into the home rather than uprooting her. Someone who will carry her in and out if needed at first, guide her through doorways with patience, and celebrate every tiny step forward.
Spirit would do best in a home that offers:
📍 Within 5 hours of Nashville, TN — long distance travel is not an option for her
🏡 A securely fenced yard — she potties best when given space to wander
🏠 Single level home preferred — or two story where she can stay downstairs with minimal outdoor steps
🐾 At least one altered dog companion — she genuinely thrives with canine company; required until spay
🐱 Cats are fine — she simply doesn't pay them any mind
👶 Older, calm children welcome — she has grown more comfortable with kids over time
🧘 Extraordinary patience — she needs a full six months to truly settle and someone who commits to that
💛 A homebody adopter who is around consistently and can provide calm, uninterrupted stability
Spirit has already proven she can get there. She just needs someone willing to hold the space for her while she does it again — quietly, gently, and on her own terms. For the right person, watching her finally feel at home will be one of the most rewarding things they have ever experienced. 💕
