Ishtar (Gracie): Sweet, Shy, and Ready to Love
📍 Delaware, OH | 🎂 5 years old | ⚖️ 77 lbs
Meet Ishtar, affectionately known as Gracie — a gentle, quiet Bernese Mountain Dog who has come a long way from her days as a mill mama. Rescued from a life of neglect, she’s now discovering what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family.
In her foster home, Ishtar has learned to enjoy the good things in life: belly rubs, cuddles, chicken treats, and even chasing stuffed animals and balls in the backyard. She’s not destructive, doesn’t need crating, and can be trusted to roam the house safely while unattended. She walks well on a leash but especially loves her fenced yard where she can explore freely and run at her own pace.
Ishtar gets along with all dogs, big and small. In fact, she would thrive in a home that already has a friendly, confident dog to help continue guiding her.
While she’s warm and loving with women, she has recently shown fear and regression around men, so an all-female or primarily female household would be the most supportive and successful environment for her to continue to blossom.
Ishtar has a kind, loyal spirit and is just waiting for the right home to call her own — one filled with patience, understanding, and love.
